Sleepover at Junie's

Joel and I made it safely to Raleigh, NC last night, and the boys are enjoying 2 nights at Junie's. Jaeden loves to sleepover!! On our way out the door yesterday, we reminded Jaeden that he would be staying at Grandma's for 2 nights and his response was a big "Yea!!! I love staying at Junie's" You would think it had been forever since he spent the night, but he was just there Sunday night - because he did not want to come home!!

It's sounds like they had an uneventful night for the most part, but Junie did say, that Jayce was talking in his sleep, and no surprise to us he was moaning "mine, mine, mine." The nightly thoughts of an almost 2 year old!!!

Joel says he talked a lot in his sleep as a kid, and we've heard Jaeden from time to time, but I think Jayce is going to talk more, because we hear him lots, I just don't always waken fully to decipher his words.

Our Jaycer-Racer

These days Jayce keeps saying more and more, and he's being quite funny. For several months, he's loved shoes!!! We have a shoe basket, where we put our shoes when we come home, and Jayce loves to go get his and Jaeden's shoes when it's time to leave. He's very good at finding pairs and knowing who's shoes they are. Jayce also loves!!! to walk in everyone's shoes. This past Sunday was the first time he actually put on my church shoes though. Right after i took the pic he started jumping in the shoes....which leads to our next topic.

Obviously, he was already changed out of his church clothes, or the shoes would have matched the outfit much better!! :)

Besides, Jaycer-Racer, which has been a nickname from birth, he is now frequently called Hippity, Hippity-Hops, or Hoppity. I think Jayce spends most of his day jumping/hopping around the house than actually walking or running. He loves to bounce in a large circle around the living room. It's quite entertaining. And he's actually starting to get lots of height and/or distance with his jumps. Considering he was attempting to jump off the ottoman and coffee table(seen in top pic) around 15 months, when the attempt was just stepping off without fear and amazingly rarely falling. He has now successfully been jumping off the ottoman and coffee table for several months. Last month, he increased his height and started copying his brother by jumping off their kids table (and off the table not the side bench) and the couch, which is higher than the ottoman. He amazes us that he almost always lands on two feet.

As for Jayce's language skills, he is saying 3-4 words sentences much more often. He can say all of his body parts, but i recently figured out he still says eye for ear and eye. In the bath tub, while washing his hair, he always says, eye, eye, eye... which i though referred to the water in his eyes, but I've finally pieced together that he meant ear...and like his mother and brother, he hates water in his ear. So, keeping the water out of his ears has made for happier baths.

Jayce can also make the sound of every farm animal plus a few others...my favorites are his alligator noise.."chomp,chomp", elephant noise"eeeeee" with his arm raised in the air, and rooster "doo" although he tries to say something for cocka-doodle, but only the "doo" comes out. Last night, Joel asked Jayce what does daddy say, and jayce responded with "oink, oink" It was pretty funny.
Jayce watching his beloved Dora...it is still the only show he requests to watch...every morning!(Nov 08)
And last, Jayce is definitely in the terrible two stage. Everything is mine, mine, mine, or in his words, "My turn, My turn, My turn." No matter what it is, it is always his turn!!! Right after he finishes something, instantly he'll say "my turn" although Jaeden does get a turn. Jayce has improved a little about letting Jaeden have his turn, but there is still lots of room for improvement. Jayce also loves to say prayers with us. He usually picks who will say the prayer, and when it's done, as with everything, he says "my turn" His prayer is "Father, day, Amen" although the "day" is not included in all prayers. It's a copy of the rest of ours..dear heavenly father, thank you for this day,.....Amen" So for every meal prayer and every nightly family prayer....jayce says one too!!! It can only bring us extra blessings!!

My first poll

So, I decided to place my first poll, after taking many on my friend's blog. I'm trying to see how many people are actually reading my blog, if that can't be deciphered from the poll question. Now that I've learned how to enhance my blog, I've been having lots of fun and enjoy changing it around every now and then.

Coming soon will be the 2nd November trip - our Cancun vacation....

Happy 30th Birthday!!

I realize I changed the background 7 hours before V- day was actually over, but I don't always know when I'll have a chance to spend time at the computer. The background birthday theme is celebrating the few friends who I think actually read my blog - Happy belated birthday Emily, and Happy early birthday to Me, Lindsay and Ari!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I hope everyone has had a good day celebrating!! Joel and I met exactly 7 years ago today. I can't believe how fast 7 years has gone!! For those of you who read the blog, but don't know how we met this is the story....

Neither Joel nor I had any idea what was about to happen. Because of the Winter Olympics being held in Utah, Joel decided to visit his best friend, Justin, in DC. Meanwhile, Jessica was in PA school at George Washington University and had recently become acquainted with a new group of friends in the LDS Single’s Ward. This new group of friends also included Justin. One of the friends decided to have a singles Valentine’s Party. Joel and Justin arrived long before Jessica, who was at her apartment finishing a school paper; the only paper ever completed more than 24 hours before the deadline (as Valentine’s was on Thurs and the paper was due Monday). Joel, not knowing anybody, parked himself on a stool next to the food and scoped out his possible romantic targets for the evening. After being very disappointed in the prospects, all of a sudden in walked Jessica – in a pink sweater and jeans. Joel knew instantly that this was the girl he would marry. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. However, Jessica had no clue about his thoughts and intentions. Joel spent the majority of the night trying to win her over, including pushing his best friend out of the way to claim the seat on the couch next to Jessica. Jessica was not to blame since Joel had not cut his hair for over 8 months!! Unfortunately, he failed to listen to his mother before coming to DC, who warned him that he would be meeting his wife on the trip. Luckily, for Joel he had an in because he also planned to attend PA school after graduating from the University of Utah. He asked for her email address and that is how it all began …

Baylor Homecoming 11-1-08

After a quick Halloween trick-or-treating down Grandma Junie's street, we took a ride to Waco for Baylor's Homecoming. We had so much fun seeing old friends and playing with all of their kiddos. My boys had a blast again at the parade. Of course, the live bear was hit as well as the yummy candy. My youngest definitely takes after mommy in the sweet tooth dept. I'm surprised he wasn't sick from how much candy he was eating, and yes I was trying to limit it, but sometimes it's just not worth the fight!! After seeing the Shriner's? league driving in these little red cars, which I'm sure we do not have a picture of.. Jaeden decided he needed a race car for Christmas. So for 2 months, we got to hear about Santa bringing him a race car like at the parade. The ZTA float also took 1st place which was very exciting - it was titled 'Bears in Toyland' and had recreated many memorable toys - light brite, tinker toys, etch-a-sketch... We can't wait to go back again next year.

Halloween, again!

I forgot to include these first 2 pics in our previous Halloween pics, and then we found many more still in the camera as seen below....

The boys love to visit Old MacDonald's Farm, which is a fun ranch like place with multiple play ground areas, swimming pool, train ride, pony rides, farm animals and roaming deer. The boys were very lucky to have Grandma "G" come visit in October and take her along to one of their favorite places. They also have a pumpkin patch, and we took home 2 free small pumpkins. (The ones they are holding.)

We also attended the Halloween party in Benders Landing, the neighborhood we will be building our house in, in 2 years. Unforunately, it felt like July and not October, all the chocolate melted in the buckets they were given!! But the boys loved seeing all the large pumpkins, and we took home 2 more free pumpkins. I'm not sure where these large pumpkins came from, but they lasted forever. They sat in our kitchen until mid-January, without a single bad spot. After months of delay, we finally took the time to open them and roast the seeds, yum, yum!!!

On Halloween day, I had the boys decorate, paint each of their 3 pumpkins, yes that was a total of 6 free pumpkins this year. Painting pumpkins at this age is much more enjoyable than carving!! The mini-pumpkins came from the zoo. We happened to go to the zoo with G and Jorgy during Zoo-Boo, and the boys got candy and the pumpkins. I think that about wraps up Halloween/October 2008.

The toothfairy already??

So tonight, Jaeden went to bed as usual. Eventhough they are regularly put in bed at 7:45 ish, Jaeden doesn't always fall right to sleep. Tonight he popped out of bed around 8:30 to go to the bathroom. While on the potty, he had a funny conversation with Joel. Jaeden said...he heard a few trucks outside, and then he said he looked out the window and saw the toothfairy flying. She came in and looked under his pillow, and he didn't have any teeth, so she went to another house to look for teeth. He then ended by saying the toothfairy went to a monkey and took his tooth, and gave him a banana that was full of money.
I'm not sure where he gets his imagination. We have discussed the toothfairy process, but I didn't realize how well he understood our conversation several weeks ago! It's amazing how they process information, and when that info decides to come out again.
I guess he's now prepared to lose his 1st tooth in 3 years???

Jaeden's ?True? colors

So, for the last year Jaeden's favorite color has been white. Yes, he is the first person Joel and I have ever known to have white as his/her favorite color. Has anyone else known somebody with white as his favorite color??? Anyways, lately, he's decided that his other favorite color is orange. That is not as strange, since my oldest nephew also has loved orange from a very early age. Today, Jaeden said he told his primary teachers that his favorite colors are orange and white. These colors have Joel a little worried, and he thinks he needs to start training Jaeden that our favorite colors are scarlett and gray. We do not own a single item that represents TEXAS, and we own a million items that represent OHIO STATE!
