Jayce and the Scriptures?

Well, I'm not sure Jayce listens to anything we read every night, but we do get his attention when there's a picture of a thunderstorm. Jayce loves rainstorms... so I know he heard the lessons about Noah's Ark, the plagues of Egypt, and Jonah and the whale, 3 stories depicted with rainstorms!! He regularly prays for rainstorms, or at least says 'thank you for rainstorms' which must be getting heard, since we've finally started having mini-rains almost daily for the past 2 weeks. We're still not out of severe drought conditions - NO WATERING ALLOWED, but the small rains are helping.

Jayce always makes us laugh when he's praying. He hasn't figured out how to close his eyes yet, but if you ask him to he makes this funny face while trying. He says a prayer, and usually says thank you for mommy, daddy, jaeden and jayce while pointing to each of us during the prayer. He also frequently says 'Jaeden behave' which I frequently mention in my prayers for them to behave. but Jaeden does not like it when Jayce says it all the time!

Jaeden and the Scriptures

So we had been reading from 'My Book of Mormon Storybook' until I recently found 'My Bible Storybook.' It tells very condensed versions of the stories with pictures, and they are short enough for their small attention spans. Although I'm not sure anything is short enough for Jayce. Jaeden does very well listening and understanding all the stories, and occasionally loves to act out the stories.

After reading about Sodom & Gomorrah, we acted out Lot and his wife turning into a pillar of salt for at least a week. The 3 characters being Lot - who didn't look back, the wife - who did look,, and Heavenly Father. Jayce just runs around and tries to participate.

We read one night about Samuel and Eli (1 Samuel 3) where Samuel thinks Eli is calling him during the night until the 3rd time, when Eli says, maybe Heavenly Father is calling you. The next day I went to pick them up after work, and they had just been put in bed for naps, but my dad said he was sure they were not asleep yet. So I was calling from the bottom of my parent's stairs to Jaeden, telling him he could get out of bed and come down. Well, it took several calls without any response. When he was finally downstairs, I asked why he didn't come at first... his response..."I thought you were Heavenly Father calling me." Of course, he says this with a straight face, not intending to be funny.

He frequently talks about Moses and the parting of the Red Sea, and also remembers about the plagues of Egypt.

He also asks why Jesus died on a cross. And must have learned in primary about Judas being the bad guy, because he refers to bad people, and usually mentions Judas being bad too.

Tonight we read the Christmas story, and he asked "Why can't you walk when your going to have a baby?" We replied that you can walk, but it was a long distance, and they didn't Mary having the baby until she arrived in Bethleham. His response, "They didn't want the baby to come out and land on the donkey?" We just said yes that's right.

Things of Late at the Jorgensen House

As usual, the boys make funny comments on a daily basis and keep us thoroughly entertained and always on our toes.

Some of our favorites...

Jayce - 'Dum Dum Head' which he started himself, and we've been trying to stop

They both love to say 'Budde Road' (pronounced booty) since they know they can't get in trouble for saying this nearby street name.

Jaeden is always into pretending to be someone else, and gives the rest of the family their pretend names as well. Although we frequently hear Jayce saying, "No, I'm not blank, I'm Jayce Arthur!"

They love to battle/wrestle with Daddy. Jayce love to charge head first into Joel, whereas Jaeden likes fighting more from a distance with occasional sneak attacks. Wrestling ends with a 'boo-yah' chest bump, which usual sends Jayce down to the floor.

Jaeden is always puzzling us with deep thought questions, such as "How does the baby come out?? Do they cut you open?" We've taught him that mommy's have a 'baby tunnel' and that's how the baby comes out of the belly. And we've left it at that. Although his next question was "Can I watch the baby come out?" Which we replied with a definite NO!

Talent show - 8-28-09

Friday night, we had our 2nd annual primary talent show. Jaeden has been looking forward to this event for the last month. The Sunday the talent show was announced, I asked him on the way home from church, what he would like to do. His immediate response "I'm going to play the drums!" I was thinking saying an article of faith would be easier, but he insisted on the drums. We've had regular drumming concerts at our house for the past 2 months. His favorite song is "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and he plays the beat and sings the whole first verse very well for 3! I was a little worried the drumming would be too loud, since that's the only volume we hear at home, but I guess the crowd quieted him some because while we could easily hear the drums being tapped, it was very soft!! Joel held the mic so all could hear him sing! Overall, it was a good first talent show performance, and he is very proud of his "I'm special" sticker. Joel will try to post a video soon.

Cancun Finale - part III

So, if you haven't noticed, I'm very excited to have found these slideshows which make it very very easy to upload an abundance of pictures. You can either watch the slideshow or click on view all. I do have a small phrase typed about most pictures, which you can read by scrolling over the pic or by viewing all.

Also don't miss the stuff I added at the bottom of the first Cancun blog!

This slideshow is mostly pictures at the resort beach. The boys loved the sand. We also took a canoe like boat out on the water, but I guess there are no pictures because the boys, Junie and I were escorted/pushed by daddy and papa instead of using oars. The last 2 pictures are Jaeden and daddy in a very bubbly bath. After Jaeden got out... Since everything is included at the resort, Joel decided since we don't drink alcohol, he should not let it all go to waste - and he dumped to bottles into the large bath tub, yes all 4 of us could easily fit into the tub. Afterwards, I had to air out the room, so the boys and us did not get high on the fumes.

Cancun - Isla Mujeres

Another day trip was to Isla Mujeres. We enjoyed an "Entertainment" boat ride. The four guys - captain & crew - did a hilareous re-enactment of Titanic and other assorted comedy-esque routines. Jaeden still talks about the funny boat ride. Most of the pics from the boat ride are in the slideshow on the previous post. We decided to stay on the boat to take a ride around the island. This is how we got the pictures of the crystal clear water. We also had an opportunity to swim in the water which felt great. Unfortunately, they were not able to anchor the boat as usual is relatively shallow water, so we all donned lifejackets for a more enjoyable swim.

One of the best stories from our Cancun trip was swimming in the water. I guess this was Jaeden's first experience swimming in salt water, as he had just turned 3. Anyways, even with a lifejacket, some of the water got in his mouth, which he did not like at all!! When I explained it tasted funny because it was salt water, his response was "I like the pepper water better!" For several months, he referred to normal water as pepper water. I think he also remembered having swam in the lake with his life jacket that summer, which of course did not have any salt!

Cancun - 9+ months later...

The above pictures are from the beach and around the resort. We had a blast hanging out and eating anything you wanted! The boys love being outdoors! The iguanas were always easy to find, but I guess we don't have a close up picture of one, but they could be seen almost anywhere enjoying the sun!

These pictures are from the day trip Joel and I took to historic Chichen Itza. There is the one large temple like building in the middle with other smaller structures in the area. Of course, like most ruins, there is alot of evidence of their scientific knowledge. Each side of the temple has 91 steps to correlate with the 364 days of the year plus a final step to the smaller temple on top to make 365. The acoustics were amazing - I think it was the angle they built the temple helped to amplify the sound, so anyone speaking from the top of the temple could easily be heard. The guide had us clap to her how loud the sound was magnified from a small clap.
